The classic shapes you see here are inspired by Mediterranean, Art Deco, and Southern Californian architecture and design. Ceramic lighting provides both architectural and decorative detail, while adding depth and drama to a well designed lighting plan. Moderate size sconces have the ability to compliment both large and small size rooms. Multiple sconces within a space also amplify their visual impact.
The natural off-white bisque finish is beautiful as-is or excellent for painting. Any water-based paint may be used on the ceramic bisque surface. Flat paints maintain the original character of your fixture best and require no primer. For all other treatments, especially oil-based paints, a primer coat of paint is needed to seal the bisque.
Based on many years of experience we recommend using shapes with a wider radius when maximum ambient light is desired. When decorating, "up-light" only sconces are the most understated and purely sculptural in their overall effect. The addition of down-light or cut-out motifs add decorative detail and enhanced separation between the sconce and the wall.
Fixtures include all parts necessary for hardwired installation. Bulbs are not included and the maximum wattage is listed below in the product detail section. They are hardwired for incandescent use with a medium base socket. These can be dimmed with incandescent bulbs and while screw-in fluorescent, or halogen bulbs can be used, but may not be dimmable. The standard hardware is UL approved “damp”, suitable for interior use or sheltered exterior locations. Some designs are available with special weatherproof hardware - contact us for details. Our ceramic sconces are all handcrafted in the USA.
Cleaning: Unpainted Bisque Sconces require a dry cloth for dusting and a medium-grade sandpaper for removing smudges. Do not use liquid cleaners.
