With Halloween approaching, we thought you'd be interested to know that some scary movies were cursed in real life. Here are some weird things that happened on the sets of these movies.
Myra Jones (an uncredited body double for Janet Leigh) was murdered – on the set. A handyman working on the film named Kenneth Dean Hunt told
police he had done it to impress the director, Alfred Hitchcock.
Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne, died just before the release of the third film. She was only 12. Dominique Dunne, who played
her older sister in the first movie, was murdered by her ex-boyfriend after the movie's release.
The two costars are buried in the same California cemetery.
Heath Ledger's death was said to have been caused by the abuse of several prescription drugs, but his brilliant portrayal of the Joker
(described by Ledger as "a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy") has often been attributed as the ultimate cause of his demise.
Jack Nicholson said, "Well, I warned him." According to a later interview with Nicholson, that warning was apparently about taking sleeping aids, not the Joker role, though.
Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, was killed after a prop gun was loaded with a real bullet instead of a blank. It was oddly similar to the way his father had died twenty years earlier in a movie of his own.
Twilight Zone: The Movie:
While filming a scene for The Twilight Zone, a helicopter crashed and decapitated Morrow. The crash also killed two child actors.
It was later revealed that the two Vietnamese child actors who were killed in the tragedy had been hired illegally by the producers. It was also revealed in court that the movie’s concept artist mistakenly drew a burned out helicopter in the
middle of a river in his sketches, essentially foreshadowing the accident.
